Conservative parliamentary candidate for Esher & Walton, Dominic Raab, is working with the government, local teachers and sponsors to secure the permanent site for the full secondary Cobham Free School to open in September 2020.
With Heathside Walton secondary school set to open in September 2021, this will provide two high quality state schools, and ease pressure on places across the borough. In August, the government announced £14 billion extra school funding. All our local schools will receive at least £3,750 per primary school pupil and £5,000 per secondary school pupil – funding boosts for 17 of our local primary schools as well as Esher High and Hinchley Wood secondary schools.
This response to Dom's campaign, based on feedback from parents and teachers, is a great local win. In March, Three Rivers Academy achieved a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating – testament to the hard-work of its teachers. All our secondary schools are now Good or Outstanding.
His number one priority, whilst MP from 2010 to 2019, was to provide enough school places and raise educational standards for local families – which, working together, we have delivered.
